Visit by ODA Research Mission of the House of Councillors

From 11th to 13th December, the Official Development Aid (ODA) Research Mission of the House of Councillors led by MP Mitsuyoshi Yanagisawa (Democratic Party of Japan, DPJ) joined by MP Harunobu Yonenaga (DPJ), MP Masahisa Sato (Liberal Democratic Party of Japan), Mr. Masayuki Usami and Mr. Yuichi Wakita (Secretariat of the House of Councillors) visited Rwanda to conduct research on Japanese ODA.

During the three-day visit, the Mission surveyed various ODA project sites (inc. the Program for Rural Development in the Eastern Province, the Skills Training and Job Obtainment Support for Social Participation of Ex-Combatants and Other People with Disabilities and the Project for the Rehabilitation of Public Transport.) and had meetings with Hon. Mushikiwabo, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation, Hon. Karega, Minister of Infrastructure, and other Rwandan government officials to exchange views on Japanese ODA. The Ministers and officials commended Japan’s cooperation to economic development in Rwanda. The Mission also had a discussion with Japan Overseas Cooperation Volunteers and a Senior Volunteer in which MP Yanagisawa and the other councillors expressed  appreciation for their dedication.
