On August 13, a cultural exchange event dubbed “JRYC Community Exchange” was organized by JRYC. JRYC is an international student body with university students joining from both Japan and Rwanda. In the activity of JRYC, students from both countries visit their counterpart on a yearly basis besides their daily activities in the home countries.

The above-mentioned event was held under the theme of “essence of mutual understanding” with the presence of eight Japanese students during their visit to Rwanda from August 5 to 15. In the event, Japanese and Rwandan cultural dances were performed by a group consisting of students from both countries. In addition, a panel discussion with Ambassador Murigande, a former Ambassador of Rwanda to Japan was conducted.

Ambassador Miyashita, in his remark, said “The essence of the diplomacy is also to promote the mutual understandings between the countries. I wish this grass-rooted exchange will further deepen your mutual understanding and this wonderful exchange continues sustainably in 5 years, 10 years, and beyond”.
