Japan and Rwanda Cultural Event (10th October, 2014)
On 10th October 2014, JICA Rwanda Office, JICA Alumni Association in Rwanda (JAAR) and the Embassy of Japan organized a cultural event at Groupe Scolaire Kampanga Musanze. Over 300 students, parents and local residents were gathered. The objective of this event was to explain to participants about the Japanese culture and lifestyle.
The event started with the opening remark of Mr. Sakamoto, charge d'affaires of the Embassy of Japan. After that, Rwanda traditional dance was performed by students. Then, two Japan Overseas Cooperation Volunteers (JOCV) and JAAR members had presentations respectively. JOCV explained about cultural comparison between Japan and Rwanda, and JAAR members shared their experience while they studied in Japan. In addition, there was Karate demonstration by Rwandan as well as exhibition of Kimono by Embassy staff. Comments of the pupils on this event are overall positive, and more than half of pupils chose that Karate demonstration was the most interesting among all programmes.
The Embassy of Japan is planning to held another cultural event in Kigali on December.
