Grant Assistance for Grass-Roots Human Security Project (GGP): Inauguration of the Construction of the facility of water supply in Migina-Nzovi (April 28, 2015)

On April 28th, the inauguration ceremony of the project by the Rwanda Red Cross Society, entitled “Construction of the facility of water supply in Migina-Nzovi” took place in Muriya sector, Nyanza District, Southern Province. The project funded by the Government of Japan consists of constructing two public fountains at water source, four public fountains with kiosks, two 10 cubic meters water tanks, and pipeline. Moreover, participatory hygiene and sanitation trainings for the community were conducted. With the facility, more than 2,500 people in the community are now able to access to safe water.
Ms. Murata, First Secretary of the Embassy said in her remarks, “I expect that this facility will contribute to the community’s welfare and sustainable development.” The Representative of the Rwanda Red Cross Society appreciated the support from the Government of Japan as this facility, the third water supply constructed by the Rwanda Red Cross Society, has enabled the community to improve their lives. The district Mayor also thanked the support from the Government of Japan in the water & sanitation and education domains of the country, and he expects the community to maintain and make the most of the facility, which will greatly contribute to the development of Nyanza District.
