On March 12th, the inauguration ceremony of the project entitled “the Project for Construction of Agricultural Processing Facility for Vulnerable Youth” took place at the facility in Musanze District. The completed facility consists of two training rooms and a workshop with the installation of equipment and tools necessary for making avocado soaps such as an oil press, oil tanks, a weighing machine and moulds. The facility will provide targeted 200 youth yearly to get technical trainings in making soaps by using locally available avocados and bring the benefits to the local communities. Ms. Murata, the first secretary said in her congratulatory address, “I expect that this entire facility will be fully utilized for those vulnerable youth to be trained with necessary skills and basic education, and eventually to be independent.” The representative of Ruhengeri Diocesan Commission for Youth and HIV Control appreciated the support from the Government of Japan, “the facility have initiated the operation and it will help to enable many of youth to be self sustained through technical training involved income generating activities.”
