On March 28th, the Embassy signed contracts amounting up to 107,719 USD under the scheme of the Grant Assistance for Grass-roots Human Security Projects (GGP) with the Huye District in Southern Province for the project for the “Construction of Huye Farmers and Community Support Center”. This project is to construct a three story building consisting of two training-cum-conference, one practical training room, three exhibition halls, a snack stand, an office and toilets.

During the ceremony, Ambassador said that the grant was expected to help the project to achieve Rwanda Vision 2020, one of which aims at producing high valued and market oriented products in agriculture.

Mr. Kayiranga, Mayor of Huye District appreciated Japan’s contribution and said that the objectives of the Huye Farmers Community Support Center are: to empower farmers with the place to learn together to improve food production, processing and quality control, to access to market providing place for introduction and exhibition of farmer’s products and services, to support community for information sharing with community population.
