On June 24th, the inauguration ceremony of the project by a local NGO APIB, entitled “Construction of Vocational Training Center for Street Children” took place in Musanze. The facility will allow 40 children annually to access basic education as well as give a technical training of tailoring and carpentry to make them self-sufficient which will contribute to the society. Ambassador Ogawa said in his remarks, “I expect this entire facility to be fully utilized for those vulnerable children who will be trained with necessary skills and basic education”. The representative of the organization of the project (APIB) appreciated the support from the Government of Japan as the facility has enabled to change children’s behavior as well as give them technical skills to be independent. And one of the children uttered these words: “two years ago, I strayed in the town and used drug, but now thanks to this center, I have overcome this habit. I thank Japan and APIB.”
