Grant Assistance for Grass-Roots Human Security Project (GGP) : Inauguration of the Construction of Murehe Primary School

 On February 26th, the inauguration ceremony of the project by a local NGO Nile Basin Discourse Forum, entitled “Construction of Murehe Primary School” took place in Muyumbu sector, Rwamagana District, Eastern Province. The project funded by the Government of Japan consists of constructing the facility of six classrooms, a library, playgrounds, an office, toilets as well as two water tanks.

 The facility will allow 270 children annually to access primary education in order to receive basic education and improve the learning skills. Ambassador Ogawa said in his remarks, “I expect that the six classrooms will enable the number of pupils per class to be balanced which will improve the learning environment for the targeted 270 pupils”. The representative of the organization of the project (Nile Basin Discourse Forum) appreciated the support from the Government of Japan as the facility has allowed them to access good quality education and contribute to the country’s Vision 2020 goals. The representative of pupils of the school promised that they would make best use of the facility and get benefits out of this school. The Muyumbu Executive Secretary also thanked the support from the Government of Japan to have enabled the school to reduce the number of pupils per class therefore, improve the learning environment.
