Signing Ceremony for the Grant Assistance for Grass-Roots Human Security Projects (GGP) (4th March 2014)

On 4th March, the Embassy signed contracts amounting up to 178,629 USD under the scheme of the Grant Assistance for Grass-roots Human Security Projects (GGP) with two local NGOs. Rwanda Red Cross Society will implement the Project for the Construction of the Facility of Water Supply in Migina/Nzovi villages in Nyanza district. This project is to establish two water tanks and 6 public fountains with kiosks, which will enable 2500 people in targeted communities to get access to safe and clean water, together with operational training of the water facility for the beneficiaries.
Nile Basin Discourse Forum plans to construct a primary school in Murehe cell in Rwamagana district. This project will consist of 6 classrooms, a library, and playgrounds together with water tanks in order for eligible children to access quality of basic education.
Ambassador made a speech that the government of Japan has been extending assistance to different grass-roots activities in order to contribute to the Millennium Development Goals as well as Rwanda's achievement of Vision 2020.
