On January 30th, Ambassador Ogawa attended an open class organized by a Japanese non-profit organization called “Reborn Kyoto.” The organization has been conducting the “Life Empowerment Project through Acquiring Advanced Tailoring Skills in Rwanda”since July 2013, supported by the Government of Japan through the Grant Assistance for Japanese NGO Project.The project is a three-year-project and about 100 young people will be trained in order to acquire high level cloth fabrication skills. This project aims at not only providing trainings but also promoting youth employment and income generating activities.
Ambassador Ogawa made his remarks at the closing ceremony and expressed his pleasure that the Government of Japan has been able to contribute in providing development assistance for capacity building which is one of the key factors for the nation building. At the same time, he encouraged the trainees and wished them success after their graduation.
Hon. Minister Nsengiyumva expressed his gratitude to the support for capacity building by the Government of Japan and affirmed the strong willingness of his government to expand the same kind of project across Rwanda. Moreover, he encouraged the project team to promote production unit which will enable trainees to increase their income.
