From 11th to 15th June, three Japan Karate Association (JKA) instructors, executive Director, Mori Toshihiro (Eighth Dan), Mr. Kamino Masaru (Seventh Dan) and Mr. Kasajima Keiichi (Sixth Dan) conducted technical seminar and Dan Grade Examination as well as participated in the Genocide Memorial Karate Cup at Amahoro National Stadium in Remera. About 152 Rwandan Karatekas joined the training seminar, and 24 out of 25 were awarded Black Belts which turned out to be a bigger number than expected.
Mr. Sakamoto, charge d' Affaires ad interim at the Embassy of Japan, stated in his closing remarks at the Karate Cup, “I would also like to congratulate FERWAKA for joining JKA by acquiring its membership, and the Embassy of Japan will give its support whenever possible to advance further this traditional Japanese martial art in Rwanda as well as the cooperation between our two countries in this sport.”
