On 13 November, the Embassy of Japan co-hosted with University of Rwanda- College of Business and Economics, a lecture on FDI given by Dr. Takahiro Fukunishi, Researcher at the Institute of Developing Economies. Around 100 people including students and staffs, officials from the government of Rwanda, and JICA attended the lecture. Giving some examples of local industries in African countries, Dr. Fukunishi pointed out that local producers in Africa which gained experiences through multinational assembly operations can contribute to produce high value added and export-oriented merchandise, thus play an important role in a sustainable growth for each country. Participants asked many questions to Dr. Fukunishi, for instance what Japan can contribute to assist Africa in this regard, and so on.
