Main activity

A Grant Contract Signing ceremony for the project for the expansion and equipment of Kibimba primary School was held in Gitega province on 25th February 2014.  Record Association was awarded a grant of 102,000 USD for the construction of 6 classrooms, 1 administration block, 2 sanitary blocks and the purchase of 150 benches, 42 chairs and 19 desks. H.E. Mr. Terada, Ambassador of Japan to the Republic of Burundi, was welcomed by more than 500 students, parents, representatives of the local community and friends.  The ceremony included a tour of the new facilities, laying of the foundation stone and entertainment by Burundi traditional drummers as well as dance performance by parents and students.

To grace the occasion were among others, a representative of the governor, the school director and members of the RECORD association who all expressed sincere gratitude to the government of Japan, for the significant support that would provide many children with access to education within conducive learning environment in Kibimba.  H.E Mr Terada congratulated the organization and local community for having qualified to obtain the highly competitive GGP Grant. The school had not been renovated since its establishment in 1949.  H.E. Mr Terada requested RECORD association and the community to ensure a successful implementation of the project.
