Grass roots Human Security Project (GGP) : Inauguration of Rainwater Collection Facility in College Doctrina Vitae funded by the Government of Japan (3rd July 2013)

On July 3rd, the inauguration ceremony of the project entitled “the Project for Construction of Rainwater Collection Facility in College Doctrina Vitae” took place at the college. The project funded by the Government of Japan consists of constructing the facilities of four rainwater tanks, a drinking water tank and an underground water tank with gutters, collection pipes and water channels and these constructed facilities were officially handed over to the college. The facilities will provide all students with clean water which helps to improve their learning environment. Ambassador Ogawa said in his congratulatory address, “I expect that the facilities will ease access to clean water and will play a critical role in control of water shortage and waterborne diseases in the school”. The chairperson of the college appreciated the support from the Government of Japan as the facilities have enabled them to significantly reduce not only the water costs but also hygienic related diseases.
