On February 8, the Embassy of Japan in Rwanda organized “Shinnenkai,” or a New Year Reception, at the Ambassador’s residence. More than 100 Japanese people in Rwanda, including both residents and temporary visitors working for JICA, NGOs, international organizations and in the private sector attended this reception.

In his remarks, Ambassador Miyashita expressed his hope that President Kagame’s visit to Japan last January will trigger the deepening of Japan-Rwanda relations in various fields such as development cooperation, business, culture, and so on. Ambassador Miyashita also thanked Japanese residents in Rwanda for their efforts and contribution to the strengthening of the bilateral ties. His remarks were followed by the speeches of Mr. Hiroyuki Takada, the leaving Chief Representative of JICA Rwanda Office, and Mr. Shin Maruo, the new Chief Representative.

Later, eight Japanese companies doing business in Rwanda (Kiseki Corporation, Yambiconnect, Africa Accounting Advisory, E-gates, RWA MITTU, Rwanda Nut Company, Africa Note Ltd., Bloom Hills Rwanda) gave presentations on their products and services, warming up the audience.
