Vice-Minister Yamada attends the commemoration ceremony of the Genocide against the Tutsi in Tokyo

On April 8, Mr. Kenji Yamada, Parliamentary Vice-Minister for Foreign Affairs, attended a commemoration ceremony of the Genocide against the Tutsi that was co-organized by the Embassy of Rwanda in Japan and the United Nations University.
At the beginning of the ceremony, participants observed a minute of silence to honor the victims. Following a speech of H.E Mrs. Venetia Sebudandi, Ambassador of Rwanda to Japan, Mr. Yamada gave his speech on behalf of the Government of Japan.
Mr. Yamada mentioned that, during his recent visit to Rwanda on March 24-25,he visited the Kigali Genocide memorial and extended his deepest condolences for all the victims of the Genocide. He praised Rwanda’s efforts to overcome the tragedy and promote national reconciliation. He expressed in the determination of the Government of Japan to work hand in hand with Rwanda to further consolidate peace and security in Rwanda and its region as well as the entire Africa, including taking advantage of TICAD 7 to be held this August in Japan.
