Signing Ceremony for “Poverty Reduction and Rural Development through Labor-based Road Improvement” with Japanese NGO CORE

On February 24, at the Embassy of Japan, Ambassador IMAI and a Japanese NGO called CORE (Community Road Empowerment) signed the Grant Contract for “Poverty Reduction and Rural Development through Labor-based Road Improvement”. The Government of Japan will provide 334,841 USD for this project.
The project will target 250 people in 5 districts, to teach them how to fix feeder roads effectively in order to make them more durable as well as keeping them in good condition. Ambassador Imai said the project participants will be equipped with new techniques and are expected to contribute to the alleviation of poverty in rural areas through improvement of road accessibility.
