The Handover Ceremony of “the Project for Extension of Gira Impuhwe Primary School” under the Grant Assistance for Grassroots Human Security Projects (GGP/Kusanone)

On April 27, in Kavumu cell, Busasamana sector, Nyanza district, Ambassador IMAI attended the handover ceremony of GGP/Kusanone with Gira Impuhwe NGO.

The Government of Japan provided 90,796 USD to Gira Impuhwe NGO under the framework of GGP/Kusanone. The Project aimed to provide the proper school environment to more than 130 students and to accept 30 more new students by constructing a new school building with 4 classrooms, 16 toilets and a handwashing station, as well as providing school equipment, such as chairs and desks.

Ambassador IMAI said in his remarks: “This was the second time for Gira Impuhwe NGO to implement a GGP project. The previous project was implemented in 2012, which constructed a kindergarten in Nyanza. After 10 years, the kindergarten is still providing basic education to many children. I sincerely hope that both the Gira Impuhwe kindergarten and the primary school will further improve the quality of basic education.”

Ms. Drocella MUKARUGWIZA, the Legal Representative of Gira Impuhwe NGO, thanked the Government and the people of Japan for this valuable assistance. She said the new classrooms and restrooms would help students to study in a good condition and promised that Gira Impuhwe NGO will continue to improve the quality of basic education in Rwanda. Mr. Erasme NTAZINDA, the Mayor of Nyanza district, also expressed his appreciation to the Embassy of Japan. He also assure that Nyanza district contributes to the achievement of the quality of education, which is one of the national goals in Rwanda.
