In Rwanda, the unpaved rural roads are not accessible all year round. This hinders the access of community people to social and economic infrastructures, and it exacerbates the chronic poverty in rural area. Thus, this project aims to establish the system of implementation of labor-based road maintenance, including Do-nou technology, for the rural poverty alleviation.

On the day of site visit, 50 participants from Kayonza District and other stakeholders including Amb. Fukushima participated in road rehabilitation using Do-nou (sandbags).
