The Embassy of Japan held a reception to celebrate the 64th birthday of His Majesty the Emperor at the Ambassador’s residence on February 23, 2024. The reception was attended by about 100 people such as Rwandan government officials, diplomatic corps, representatives of international organizations and private companies, and Ms. Mukeka, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, was present on behalf of the Government of Rwanda.

In his opening remarks, Mr. Fukushima, Ambassador of Japan to Rwanda, looking back on the efforts made over the past one year and stated that the bilateral relationship between Japan and Rwanda has been steadily enhanced through the exchange of views with cabinet ministers, the advancement of Japanese companies in Rwanda, and the development assistance of the Government of Japan. Ms. Mukeka expressed her gratitude for the wide range of the support from Japan that has contributed to Rwanda's development.

Gentian bouquets
On this occasion, JICA publicized its projects being conducted in Rwanda. Japanese companies also exhibited their boothes where they showcased their products and activities, namely Bloom Hills Rwanda Ltd. (gentian flower cultivation), Rwanda Nut Company Ltd. (nut products), and Greenleaf Motors Ltd (display of Mitsubishi Pajero Sport GLS). The gentian bouquets offered to attendees as they left were well-received.
