The Nippon Foundation launched this project since 2008, to promote the understanding of Japan among opinion leaders and intellectuals overseas through donation of books related to Japan written in English. At this occasion, 183 books were donated to the University of Rwanda, College of Arts and Social Science.
Mr. Moriguchi stated that although Japan is a country far from Rwanda, we have been strengthening the bilateral and cultural ties through activities such as Japanese Film Projection and holding Karate Ambassador’s Cup. He also expressed his wishes that those who will read the donated books will connect with Japan and serve as a bridge between the two countries.
He also mentioned the active exchange of people through Japanese Scholarship Student’s programs (MEXT) and he expressed his hope for further exchange between Rwanda and Japan.
Dr. Jean Bosco SHEMA expressed his gratitude for Japan's support on education as well as on this book donation, and hope for further cooperation in the future.
