The Government of Japan will provide a grant of 138,706 USD  for the installation of one compact water purification system (YAMAHA Clean Water Supply System – YCW), solar panels to ensure a continuous power supply, and one community water point.

These facilities will enhance the water system for a total of 15,000 people in Gakenke Cell and surrounding neighborhoods, significantly improving the quality and safety of drinking water and thereby contributing to the prevention of waterborne diseases.
The project will also reduce the time spent fetching water—from up to approximately two hours daily to one hour every three days—thereby easing the burden on community members and improving overall well-being.

During the signing ceremony, Ambassador NAKAJO reaffirmed Japan’s commitment to improve access to clean water, which is a crucial factor of “Human Security,” the guiding philosophy of Japan’s development assistance. It focuses on protecting the lives, freedom, and quality of life of individuals, aiming for a society where all people can live with dignity.
