GGP: Inauguration ceremony of “Construction of Huye Farmers and Community Support Center” Project (March 29, 2017)

On March 29, the inauguration ceremony of the project “Construction of Huye Farmers and Community Support Center” was held in Huye Secrtor, Huye District, Southern Province. This center is sort of Rwandan “Michi-no-eki” (roadside station) and know from now on as “SELF Community Village”. This center aims to contribute both to the economic development and human capacity development in Huye District by displaying and selling signature products of each village in collaboration with Rwandan “One Village, One Product Movement”. This center is a 3-story building consisted of 2 training/meeting rooms, 3 exhibition rooms, cafeteria and office. Going forward, this center is expected to be utilized and offer opportunities for farmers to develop new products and promote the sales through trainings and information sharing among producers’ association.
During the ceremony, Mayor of Huye District expressed his appreciation to the support from Japan and he expressed that people of Huye District will make most of this center to promote tourism resources such as coffee of the region in order to contribute to the Economy of District. Ambassador Miyashita, on his part, congratulated the launch of this Center as a fruit of Japan-Huye Disctrict collaboration and mentioned his wishes that this center under the concept of “One Village, One Product Movement” will contribute to the economic development of Huye District as well as the whole Rwanda. After the inauguration, Huye District in cooperation with Private Sector Federation (PSF), operates and maintains this center.
